HD DEVELOPMENT'S KNUCKLE BOBBER

Frankly, most bike builders here in Australia don't get the 'less is more' principle
of chopper building, and still seem happy to bolt huge, garishly painted swoopy tanks to
over-stretched chromed softail frames.

One shop that has a national reputation for no-bullshit quality workmanship and genuine knowledge is
HD Development in Melbourne. Just go to their website, and you'll see that the bikes they build for
themselves speak volumes about their experience and appreciation of chopper history.

This beautiful '46 EL Knuckle, for example, has been assembled by HD Development over the last few years
using as many pre-loved parts as possible. As they say: "Any unnecessary weight was removed from the vehicle to
enhance performance!! Features include: '46 EL 1000cc motor & 1939 Big Twin frame. In true "Bobber" tradition,
the rear fender has had the sides cut off and the hinged rear section removed.
The headlamp has been adapted from another vehicle and the controls are cut down.
The bike is finished in 2 pack satin black. This modern day built Bobber is a great example of how
they used to "hot rod" their pride and joy in the early '50s."
