Bryan's Beesa
Bryan sent
me photos of his neat BSA 'Lucite Lightning', which you may recognise
from the Sinners BBQ feature. You know what these photos remind me of? The opening
shots
of 'Hells Angels on Wheels', with the bike on the hill, overlooking the city
and with a Californian blue sky framing the shots ...
Yeah, well.
Bryan says: "Your site, Chopper Dave's, and Dustin's gold Triumph were
my inspiration.
It's a 1970 BSA Lightning – original '70s chop turned into what you see
here. Custom single down tube frame
built to 2" up, 2" out, 6" in the rear, and 34 degree rake specs.

Took original
16" over springer and hacked off 14". Engine completely rebuilt by
"Dirty" Dan Nahl; .10 over,
roller bearings in place, Amal carbs, and Boyer ignition. Engine does not leak.
Period. Moon
oil tank with 1/4" red lucite panels for bracket. Custom forward controls,
licensce plate (made out of lucite),
chain tensioner (lucite knob), all electronics hidden inside doubled up (diamond
shaped) rear engine mounts and
frame, custom front engine mounts, rear brake system (cable pulled by craftsman
wrench),
seat brace, fender stays, springer rockers, and much more. Tank found on eBay
exactly how it is.

Fender is
aftermarket ribbed, painted to match tank. Pegs are red lucite made by Kutty
Noteboom
(www.hippykiller.com). Pipes built by Dustin Hinniker. Seat done by Costa Mesa
Auto Upholstery in white boat vinyl.
Wheels are 21" up front, 16" out back. Aftermarket headlight and Z
bars, which I've cut 7" out of. Tuned by
Meatball at Hell on Wheels. Couldn't have done it without those who've helped.
I'd like to thank them for their time, craft, and inspiration.
I hope you like the pics. The Mrs took em a block from where I was born. Take
care, BW."
