Two brothers, two super nice panheads

Keith Scarboro owns one of the cleanest panhead choppers
you're likely to see, complete with metalflake, scallops and cat tailight.
It's just won Best Chopper and People's Choice awards at Paso Robles.
Keith runs a bar in San Jose, Ca, and says:

" A few years back – 1996 to be exact – I wanted to build a second bike. Not just another long fender
drippy painted East Bay clone, but something that I could say was really ME! Thats when I wanted
my old pan back. In the early 70s I had a 1948 pan that I built and rode the shit out of. I was living at full throttle,
if you know what I mean. Wife left, got a divorce had to pay up, and that's when the old pan left.
I had to square up with the court.
That was 1977, now 20 years later I wanted another pan. I searched untill I found a '49 pan in Chester, Cal.

It had what I wanted, rigid frame, wishbone, pan motor ... all H.D.... and 4 speed tranny.
We did the deal and I brought her home, then spent the next six months rebuilding her.
I did her all in late 60s style, apes, small Frisco style tank, shotgun drag pipes, short wide glide,
solo seat and P-pad rear seat.

I showed the bike for the first year and did well. Jan. 1999 I went to Easyriders show in Sacramento Cal.
and got second place Best of Show, that got her in Biker Mag. August 1999 as a feature bike.
The bike stayed like that until Feb. 2005 when she got a sporty tank and triumph rear fender, and some metalflake.
I ride her a lot and keep her shiny. This one will never ever go away.
Oh by the way, my bar is called the Checkered Flag – 803 Lincoln Ave. San Jose California 95126. 408-271-1880.

Thank you, Keith Scarboro."

Keith's brother Steve, from Stockton Ca, got the Panhead bug from Keith and owns
the black suicide shift '57 you see below. Steve says: "We plan to have ajoining corner spaces in Reno on
22nd of Oct at the Easyrider show. Keith's paint job is the total shit in my book.
Here are photos of our bikes next to each other, and one of Keith on my bike the day we finished it at his house.
