Biker Trash Novels
So where did all this
interest in riding
extremely loud, uncomfortable motorcycles bubble up from?

Well, when I was supposed to be
listening in class at junior school,
I'd often have my desk lid up and my nose in a New English Library pulp novel.
They were an exciting insight into the subcultures of bikers,
skinheads and suedeheads. I've started collecting the books again now,
and the prose is pretty flowery stuff. Obviously some middleaged English hack
writer's
guess at what American outlaw bikers were all about.

The book covers now represent a
great look back at how bikers
wer portrayed 25-30 years ago. The imagery is a mixture of weird
and wonderful choppers, square headlamps, German helmets and the odd shot
of real
Angels in action (that's Sonny Barger on the cover of 'The Run').

If you've got any old NEL novels
you want to sell (especially
Skinhead and Suedehead) please
e-mail me.
